PELVIC FLOOR DISORDER & SEXUAL DYSFUNCTION
Pelvic Floor Disorders and Sexual Dysfunction
Pelvic floor disorders happen because of overactive or underactive pelvic floor muscles. Both situations contribute to sexual dysfunction and can occur in both men and women. When the pelvic floor muscles are weak or don’t relax and tighten properly, the organs above them don’t work as they should. Men may experience like erectile dysfunction, while women may have pain or other sexual problems.
Underactive pelvic floor muscles are weak or loose. They may become underactive because of:
- Pregnancy and childbirth, which stretches the pelvic muscles.
- Hormone changes, like a drop in estrogen in women after menopause.
- Overall weakness and poor muscle tone.
When your pelvic floor muscles are weak, you may have:
- Decreased sensation with sexual activity.
- Delayed arousal.
- Difficulty achieving and maintaining an erection.
- Difficulty achieving orgasm.

Clinical Study Explanation
AESTHETIC FITNESS
Research on high intensity muscle training has shown that a lipolytic reaction takes place in fat tissue adjacent to the contracting muscle. The MRI scans show a reduction in adipose tissue not immediately after the treatments, but 2 months after the last procedure.
A possible explanation for the lasting reduction in fat is that the lipolytic reaction is so intense, releasing large amount of free fatty acids (FFA) which intoxicate the adipocytes and trigger their death. This cell reaction has already been shown in multiple studies in other fields of medicine. A recent histology study reported a significant increase in the apoptotic index of adipocytes after one HIFEM treatment.
INCONTINENCE
Hypertrophy of the muscles was demonstrated in urinary-incontinent women after pelvic floor training, and the difference in thickness of the muscles in these women before training compared to healthy women was eliminated by training. pelvic floor training reduced the use of incontinence appliances and urinary leakage both in stress and urge-incontinent women.
